Artist Statement
"A Date with My Soul"
My work is about relationships — the relationship between my creative spirit and the world around me, especially Mother Nature in all her beauty and her challenges. There is a voice in nature that speaks to us, connecting us to one another in ways that stir the soul and evoke deep emotion. My paintings are about creating and honoring that connection. They serve as metaphors for life’s fleeting, ethereal moments — experiences that pass quickly yet leave an enduring bond.
Working primarily in cold wax and oil on paper and wood panels, I physically engage in this dialogue through process. Layering, adding, subtracting, constructing, and deconstructing become acts of discovery. Each mark matters. Mark-making is essential — it infuses my energy into the surface and records the conversation between intuition and material.
My atmospheric compositions intuitively honor this affinity with Mother Nature. Through color, form, shape, texture, and mood, I seek to translate the emotional landscape of the natural world into visual language. Each piece is an invitation — to pause, to feel, and to reconnect with the quiet harmony that surrounds and sustains us.
